Math Workshop
We
continued our temperature, time, and calendar routines, with Allie leading
these activities as our “beautiful assistant.” We worked on making change.
Please practice their math facts to 20 with your child each day. Most
students need to focus on the math facts for numbers added to 7, 8, and 9.
It will also be helpful to practice counting change, and counting by fives
starting at random numbers rather than with five (i.e., start at 25 or 30).
Book Clubs
This is what our groups worked on this
week:
N-E-Ds:
Dick and Jane and b/l/bl.
Stars:
There is a Bird on Your Head
and digraphs.
Stripes: “Cookies” and -oo.
Washingtons: Scholastic Newcasts
and -oo.
Lincolns and Bald Eagles: Pecos Bill
and long -i patterns, plus Letter Getter
and the Possum Lodge Word Game.
Science/Theme
We watched a video of the Arabian Nights
to conclude our unit on deserts. Next
week, we start a new unit on the plains of the United States and the
savannas of Africa. We will be hearing the book
Born Free,
and learning about the animals and plants of those areas. Please let me know
if you have any resources to lend us.
Please come in sometime and see the beautiful crafts they
have made of carpets, camels, and domes.
