Math Workshop
We continued our temperature and calendar routines, with Alexandra leading these activities as our “beautiful assistant.” Adding to the “decades” numbers (0, 10, 20, 30, etc.) was the topic of our math strategies this week, along with place value. We still have some students in class who do not understand the significance of how we write our numbers; others have mastered this. This is to be expected, but we will do some differentiated activities to address this.

Book Clubs
This is what our groups worked on this week:
Stars: Jim Wins, The Big Hit and short i families
Stripes: A Kiss for Little Bear and short i /long i
Washingtons: ABC's of Thanksgiving and short i /long i
Lincolns: Henry and Mudge and long o/short o
Eagles: Egyptian skit and long o/short o

Science/Theme
With Gretchen, we talked about pangea and the formation of mountains, as well as continents.
With Autumn, the students worked on a chart of alpine life. We did crafts with pangea, llamas, and Andean condors, too. You can see their Aymara figures on display in the classroom.

Stories
Bunnicula continues to be a favorite.

Special and Noteworthy

Their poems about fall gave me goosebumps! We will be working on displaying these in some appropriately beautiful way, and turning them into shape poems in the computer lab.
