Pizza Day (12:05-12:45
for Middle School) – Parents Welcome |
Each year parents donate tickets or money for students to enjoy shortcakes
from the Hollins substation. All C.S. students will be walking over to the
substation on Friday, so all classes need donated tickets. Early Learner through
upper elementary students will receive a half serving; middle school students
will receive a full serving. Please call the office if you wish to contribute.
Full servings are $6 each.
Parents who are volunteering at Berry Cleaning and the Strawberry Festival on
the afternoons of May 1 and 2 can leave their children (those enrolled at C.S.)
in our After School Program free of charge. When you pick up your child (by 6:00
p.m.), please let the ASP staff know that you were volunteering at the festival.
All advanced sale ticket money is due in the office on Wednesday, April
30.
Please read the attached “Shortcake Short Takes” for last minute information and
instructions regarding all Strawberry Festival activities.
Choir members received a letter and form last week regarding upcoming choir
events. The choir will be singing the National Anthem at the C.S. Avalanche game
on May 13, and they will be going to Kings Dominion on May 30. Forms and money
are due to Kim M by May 6. If you have questions, please contact Kim M at
kimmuch@communityschool.net
Please bring money (cash or check made out to the Salem Avalanche) and number of attendees to the C.S. office by Friday, May 9, so we can finalize the size of the party and get the tickets. You can pick up your tickets at the Will Call window on game day. The C.S. choir will be singing the National Anthem, so get there early! We hope to have C.S. students in the on-field games between innings, parents participate in sing for your supper (karaoke), and recognition on the scoreboard. It’s a good opportunity to wear your Strawberry Festival or C.S. t-shirts!

Thank you to Anna Beebe and the middle school students in the Garden Design and Land Use Management Friday Group who planned the Arbor Day festivities. A fun time was had by all.
With the middle school production of "Tom Sawyer" for Arts Festival coming up, we need your help with props for the play. At this time, we are looking for lanterns, fake tombstones (maybe you have some in storage with your Halloween decorations), and wicker picnic baskets. The story takes place in the 1870's, so the more vintage in appearance, the better. Be sure to attach your name somehow, so we can return the loaned items to the proper family. Thank you so much! Kim M and Lisa
