Fall Festival Response Form

Older Elementary  October 9, 10, 11

  • This year the 8 – 11 year old group will travel to Apple Ridge Farm for our Fall Festival. We will be tenting, hiking, and participating a several team building and environmental activities. Many families have large tents that hold 4 –5 people. It is neither necessary nor desirable for each child to bring a tent.

Now that your children have reached a more independent stage of their development, we do not require that each student be accompanied by a parent. It is helpful for us to have four to six parents along to help chaperone the children. Eight to ten adults will be a sufficient number to ensure the safety and well-being of 25 children. Each parent who accompanies us will need a tent that will accommodate one adult and 3 – 4 children. Each parent will be responsible for supervising the children assigned to them throughout the trip.

Both evenings we will fix and serve our supper in the dining hall

Breakfasts and lunches will be eaten at the campsite.

Middle School

Dear Parents and Guardians, September 12, 2007

Although we’ve just started school, Fall Festival is fast approaching and this year is going to be a fun one! Fall Festival is an outdoor camping tradition that all students participate in; attendance is mandatory. We are traveling to Williamsburg, Virginia, on Tuesday, October 9th and will be camping at the Williamsburg KOA, where we will be staying in cabins. On Tuesday afternoon, we will tour the Jamestown Settlement and on Wednesday morning, we’ll visit Historic Jamestown. The afternoon of Wednesday, October 10th, will be open for hiking at First Landing State Park. On our way home on Thursday, October 11th, we will visit the Shirley Plantation, a historical working farm.
Due to our extended travel distance, we will leave on Tuesday at approximately 7:30am and will return later on Thursday afternoon.

The cost for this year’s Fall Festival is $60, an increase from last year. The additional cost will cover the increase in travel distance, the cabins and other activities. The cost for chaperones is $30 and we will be contacting some of you who are interested in coming along (based on the volunteer forms mailed over the summer). Please be aware that all chaperones will be staying in cabins with students and will be expected to assist around camp and with other group activities. If your child cannot attend due to medical reasons, please let us know as soon as possible.
More detailed information, including packing lists and itineraries, will be available on Thursday, September 27th, at the Middle School Gatherings, at 7:00pm. We look forward to seeing you then!

Sincerely,
The Middle School Staff
