The Community Fund is a yearly campaign to raise funds to help bridge the gap between tuition and the actual cost of running our school. Money raised is used for the current year’s operating expenses. Every independent school relies on an annual fund to support their operating costs.
Why is the Community Fund necessary?
We use the Community Fund to help pay for things like teacher continuing education, classroom equipment and supplies, educational technology, and scholarships. For the current academic year, tuition and other fees will only cover about 88% of our school’s operating expenses. The Community Fund exists to close part of this gap, with the remainder being made up by Strawberry Festival and other fundraising activities.
Who gives to the Community Fund?
Parents, grandparents and other family members of current students, alumni, faculty and staff are the Community Fund supporters who believe in Community School’s commitment to promoting intellectual curiosity while guiding children to become dedicated members of a diverse, independent society.
When should I give to the Fund?
You may make a gift or a pledge at any time, but we ask that you do so before July 31, the end of the school’s fiscal year.
How much should I give?
We ask that you support the Community Fund to the best of your ability. Participation is important. High participation is a vote of confidence in our school and can have an impact on gifts from outside sources.
Most foundations consider parent participation rates before agreeing to donate to a school.
Can I get a matching gift from my employer?
Many organizations have a philanthropic matching gift program. Please ask your employer if they will match a charitable donation to Community School.
Is my gift tax-deductible?
Yes. Community School is a 501c3 educational organization.
