We provide an education of the highest quality for children of all racial, cultural, religious, and economic backgrounds. We teach children in the ways they learn best.

Founded in 1971, Community School is an independent, non-profit institution. We keep our teacher-student ratio low. Our students excel by working closely with their instructors.

Our school nurtures children’s individual learning styles, fosters creative thinking, and develops life-long learners. We provide an education that is unique in the Roanoke Valley and a rarity statewide, a haven for those who value learning over standardized test results. Our small, multi-age, developmentally grouped classes allow children to learn and mature in an environment that nurtures the individual and fosters cooperation. Research proves that this is how children learn best.
