1) Congratulations to Maggie Thompson (Seminar class of 2006) who graduated last month from the University of Virginia’s School of Nursing. She is preparing to take the nursing licensure exam this month and applying for jobs outside the Roanoke Valley.

2) Congratulations to Marleigh Walsh (Seminar class of 2011) who is one of the Junior Marshalls for William Byrd’s graduation this year. Marleigh, who has a 4.0 GPA, is active in both school and club volley ball. Her brother, Garrett, (Seminar class of 2013) also has a 4.0 GPA as a freshman at William Byrd. He competes on the tennis team and loves playing guitar in the high school jazz band.

3) Congratulations to Emily Forehand (Seminar class of 2011) who recently received the Mark Hale Teeter Scholarship for Modern or Classical Language at Episcopal High School in Alexandria where she is a rising senior. The $2000 scholarship is awarded to one student in the school for “outstanding qualities of effort and determination in foreign language.” Emily will be studying in Comillas, Spain, for four weeks this summer as part of the Middleburg Monterey language academy. She has been to Bolivia three times, twice as part of our Bolivian Exchange program and once on her own.

4) Congratulations to Rachael McBroom who graduated last week with a M.A. in museum studies from Johns Hopkins. Rachel attended Community School for middle school and graduated from Community High School.
