Today, we are highlighting the achievements of the CS Seminar class of 2011. These students are graduating from high school and have compiled a very impressive list of college acceptances and achievements.

  • Joseph (Junior) Ametepe is graduating from Brookwood High School in Georgia and will be attending Georgia Gwinnette College on a full soccer scholarship. He plans to go into either engineering or medicine. Junior was captain of the soccer team and is ranked #13 nationally and #5 in the state of Georgia in high school soccer.
  • Caleb Amstutz is graduating from Roanoke Catholic School and will be attending Guilford College where he will run cross country and track and plans to major in English and environmental science. He received the Good Citizens Award and Scholarship from the Colonel William Preston Chapter of the D.A.R. The award is given to students who show responsibility in their schools and communities.
  • Celine Anderson is graduating from Community High School and will be attending Swarthmore College in the fall. She received multiple merit scholarship offers and was also accepted at Vassar, William and Mary, Goucher, American University, Oberlin, Pitzer, Macalester, Haverford, and College of Wooster.
  • Anne Peyton Brothers is graduating from Patrick Henry High School and will be attending Wake Forest University with a Presidential Scholarship in Theatre. She’s interested in anthropology, theatre, film studies, gender studies and politics, but is remaining open at this point. Anne Peyton recently competed in New York City in the national Shakespeare competition of the English Speaking Union.
  • Emily Forehand is graduating from Episcopal High School and will be attending Rhodes College. She plans to major in biology, minor in Spanish, and work towards attending veterinary school. At Episcopal, Emily was captain of the cross country team, rowed crew, was an elected member of the Vestry, served on the Community Service Council, and traveled during the summer on extension programs to Africa, India, and The Dominican Republic.
  • Jay Forehand is also graduating from Episcopal High School and will be attending Virginia Military Institute to study international studies and political science. He was a varsity wrestler, ran cross country, was elected by the faculty as a Monitor (mentor to the underclassmen), served on the Community Service Council, and traveled to The Dominican Republic twice on summer extension programs.
  • Karl Kaiser is graduating from Community High School and will be attending Roanoke College with plans to major in chemistry.
  • Meredith Link is graduating from Patrick Henry High School and will be attending Roanoke College.
  • Grant Richards is graduating from Salem High School and will be either touring with the band “Bullet for My Valentine” or working as a technician with Simplex Grennelle.
  • Meg Stewart is graduating from Chatham Hall and will be attending Dickinson College where she plans to double major in anthropology and Chinese with a minor in East Asian studies.
  • Samantha Stratton is graduating as a Distinguished Scholar from Salem High School and will be attending University of Virginia. Samantha also just won the school-wide World Language Award at Salem High for her Spanish language skills. Samantha is the second CS alumna in the past two years to win that award at Salem High! Samantha was captain of the cross country team her junior and senior years and played lacrosse all four years.
  • Julia Treubert is graduating as a valedictorian from Cave Spring High School and will be attending the Honors Program at George Mason University in the fall with plans to major in art and biology. She received multiple awards in the Scholastic Art Award competition (including 1 Gold Key and 2 Silver Keys). She is a member of the Latin Honor Club and the Beta Club and received the Director’s Award from her high school band director. Julia played the flute in the symphonic band and the marching band.
  • Marleigh Walsh is graduating as a valedictorian from William Byrd and plans to attend University of Virginia in the fall to major in biology. Marleigh played volley ball for William Byrd.
