1) Congratulations to Genevieve A. (Seminar class of 2005) who graduates from Suffolk University in Boston this month as a Griffin Scholar and an Honors Scholar. The Sawyer Business School recently honored Genevieve with the Excellence in Global Business and Excellence in Marketing academic achievement awards for being the first in the college in business and marketing. She was also inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma International Honors Society.

2) Katie F. (Seminar class of 2004) is currently attending the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine on the prestigious Dean’s Scholarship with anticipated graduation in 2016. Katie attended the Williston Northampton School in Massachusetts, graduating in 2008 as a member of the national Cum Laude Society and receiving honors in discrete mathematics and French, awards from the National French Exam Levels I and II, and the award for best student tutor, as well as being a high honors student throughout. She participated in a summer immersion program in France as a high school student. Katie graduated Magna Cum Laude from Carleton College in 2012 with a B.A. in chemistry and a concentration in biochemistry. She was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi and received distinction on her senior comprehensive project and the college’s sophomore writing portfolio. During college, she studied French and European identities in Paris, France, and community public health and the AIDS epidemic in Gaborone, Botswana.

3) Rain Y. (Seminar class of 2003 and Community High graduate) is currently working for Rosetta Stone doing quality control for their Spanish support across departments, evaluating support contacts in Spanish for quality, identifying trends, and providing training to improve quality. She graduated Cum Laude from the University of Mary Washington with a B.A. in Spanish. She lived abroad for two years in Madrid, Spain, where she attended college at the Saint Louis University-Madrid campus.

4) Channing P., who attended Community School in the 1980s, graduated with a B.S. from James Madison University with major and minor fields of integrated science and technology. He is currently working as an energy analyst for Advance Auto Parts. Channing is the co-founder for Madison Motorsports, a JMU driver’s club, and a driving instructor for the National Autosport Association.
