Model U.N. Summer Training Conference

Welcome to the world of Model United Nations (MUN)!

Welcome, or welcome back, to the world of Model United Nations (MUN), where we are helping students become global citizens without leaving home!

During this five-day training conference, students will represent delegates in the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR). UNDRR is the primary body of the UN that focuses on preventing new and reducing natural and human-induced economic, social, or environmental hazards. This year, our delegates will learn about issues like climate-based infrastructure, managing natural disasters, and designing disaster relief systems, during our training conference.

Students will:
Hone their research skills as they explore the position of their assigned country
Write and present an opening speech
Debate the issues
Work cooperatively to draft and pass resolutions

This camp is for current or rising CSMS students and rising 6th-10th-grade students who attend other schools.

ComMUNC IX will take place on the campus of Community School, located at 7815 Williamson Road, Roanoke, Virginia.

The cost is $250 for students currently enrolled in Community School; $275 for all others. Scholarships are available; please indicate this in the form below. Students will be provided with a research binder and ComMUN swag. We will utilize Google Classroom, so each student will need a Gmail address to use, and should plan to bring a device to camp each day.
