CS Takes First Place at Envirothon

April 27, 2026 – Earlier this month, Community School’s Middle School Envirothon Team competed in the Area I competition at Grand Caverns Park in the Grottoes, VA. Community School had three teams of students competing against 9 other teams. We are proud to announce that our CS Team #2 won first place overall at the competition!!

Envirothon is a natural resources competition supported by Virginia’s Soil and Water Conservation Districts. The team meets once a week after school where they host guest speakers, take field trips, and spend time studying the five Envirothon disciplines (soils, forestry, aquatics, wildlife, and a current environmental issue). Students specialize in one discipline, and work together in small teams to prepare for the competition. We hope to continue to grow this program and continue to promote values of stewardship, conservation, and appreciation for our natural spaces on and off campus!
