Our Annual Appeal

Dear Community,

As Executive Director, I get to do many things around campus, but one of my favorites is recess duty. Every day, in all kinds of weather, preschoolers to middle schoolers race across the Little Woods, play pretend in the Fairy Garden, organize soccer games, or build “rivers” after it rains. No matter their age, the playground is a favorite space at Community School, and it’s easy to see why. Play is how children learn to take turns, communicate, problem-solve, develop empathy, and negotiate with others. Even for our oldest students, time to play, especially in nature, remains an essential part of a Community School education.

Our commitment to whole-child learning extends to every corner of our campus. This year, we celebrated the opening of our newest building, now home to middle school, art, drama, Spanish, and the administrative team. The light-filled classrooms and gathering areas benefit every student, from the art room, where creativity flourishes, to the Spanish room, where language grows. And while the building is new, we are working hard to make it feel like home. We look forward to the many wonderful learning experiences our students will enjoy there for years to come.

As we look ahead, we are setting financial priorities that will help us serve our students in the ways that matter most. With your support, we can:

Expand Horizons –  Learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door. Your gifts allow students to visit farms, museums, City Hall, and other community spaces for hands-on experiences that bring learning to life.

Inspire Play – Outdoor spaces are essential for learning at every age. Your support helps us maintain safe equipment and update our play areas so they remain inclusive and engaging for all.

Invest in Teachers –  When you support our educators, you support every child’s growth and success. Donations provide the tools and training teachers need to deliver the best possible education.

Will you help us continue this important work? I invite you to make a gift to Community School’s Annual Fund today at CommunitySchool.net/Give. Your contribution supports these priorities, our programs and traditions, and the essential needs that keep our school thriving. Every gift makes a difference.

Thank you for being a part of our Community.
