The FROGs Robotics Team Off to Strong Start in Second Season

Community School’s middle school robotics team, The FROGs, kicked off their competition season with an impressive performance at the FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge) qualifier held at North Cross School last weekend. In just their second year of competition, the team placed 7th in the qualifiers and advanced to two playoff rounds while competing against high school students.

Throughout the tournament, the FROGs demonstrated the collaborative spirit at the heart of FIRST Tech Challenge. Each match required them to coordinate with a different alliance partner, building valuable communication skills while competing against other two-team alliances. The team showed remarkable adaptability, even adding a quick automated sequence to their robot right before their first match.

The team has been working hard during their after-school club sessions, and their robot performed wonderfully throughout the competition. They’re already looking ahead, continuing to refine their robot designs for the next qualifier in January.

Despite a last-minute setback when snow cancelled their final practice session, the FROGs rose to the challenge and delivered a strong performance. It’s clear that their hard work and dedication are paying off as they continue their competition season.

A big thank you to our parent volunteers and classroom teacher Julé for facilitating this club. We are also grateful to the many supporters of the team, including major sponsor TMEIC Corporation.
