Our staff gathered in June for one of our favorite traditions: choosing the theme for the upcoming school year. It was a lively exchange of ideas and a reminder that even as one year came to a close, our staff was already building excitement for the next.
We are excited to share that our theme for the 2025–2026 school year is “Tectonic Shifts: Converge, Diverge, Transform.”
Inspired by a recent faculty Responsive Classroom training, our staff reflected on the power of coming together as a school community, the importance of charting one’s own path in a shared space, and the ways we grow and change when learning new things. These shifts may seem small on an individual level but can spark tectonic change across our school community.
Teachers will explore this theme in many ways throughout the year. In science, students may study tectonic plates and how gradual movements reshape the Earth over time. In other classes, they might design service projects that show how collective action, like organizing a food drive or supporting a local cause, can create meaningful impact. In art, students may experiment with creative projects that transform simple materials into something entirely new, highlighting how small shifts in perspective lead to fresh ideas.
Whether our students are joining together, striking out on their own, or navigating moments of transformation, we look forward to seeing where this theme will take us in the year ahead.
