Welcoming New Staff to the 24-25 School Year

The new school year always brings change, which allows for new opportunities.

We are excited to welcome a talented and experienced group of new teachers to the CS Campus! You can learn more about their experience, background and education in the bios below:

Julé Basham is joining us as an upper elementary teacher. She has extensive experience in Montessori, having worked with students of all ages. She comes to us from Salem Montessori, and her son, Phoenix, will be joining our middle school. She has a B.S. in Psychology, a M.A. in Teaching, as well as Montessori and Orton-Gillingham certifications.

Jessica Downs is joining us as a middle school humanities teacher for the first and second years. She has a B.S. in Child Development and most recently worked as an instructional assistant at Grandin Court Elementary. She has two daughters and is the owner of Gatewood Rose Botanicals. 

Heath Ellis is joining us as a middle school humanities teacher for the third and fourth years. He has a B.F.A. in music with a minor in Political Science and a M.A. in Political Science. He has experience as both a social studies and music teacher at the high school and collegiate levels. His son, Khalil, will be joining our upper elementary classes. 

Miranda Greear is returning full-time to CS as a preschool teacher. Most recently, Miranda has been a substitute but also taught middle school humanities at CS from 2018–2022. She has a B.S. in Elementary Education and an M.S. in Education. She’s also the parent of three students who attend CS: Charles, Libby, and Molly, all in middle school. 

Erica Moore is joining us as a middle school science and math teacher. Erica is a licensed teacher in Virginia and has a B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. She has worked with students of all ages and, most recently, taught science at William Fleming High School. Her son Aden attended CS for preschool, and her daughter Ava is a current CS middle school student. 

Georgieanne Vecillio is joining us as the middle school Spanish teacher. She has both a B.A. and M.A. in Spanish and an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction. She has vast experience as a language teacher, including at the collegiate level and in Spanish language curriculum design. She also works part-time as an ESL teacher with the Salem Red Sox.
