Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! We are excited to have everyone back on campus! It is a Community School tradition to unify our academic year with a school-wide theme. A shared focus brings us together with an integrated curriculum and encourages contributions from all members of our community. This year’s theme is Balance.
Our staff brainstormed ideas and topics for the classrooms. Explorations may include symmetry, equations and inequalities, fact vs. fiction, time management, civil rights, patterns, measurement, harmony, mediation and compromise, architecture, ecology, engineering, meditation, and physiology. We encourage parents to let us know if they have a topic they would like to share.
Students will examine their strengths and weaknesses and find ways to balance their skills and their time as well. They will develop a deeper understanding of The Big One: Treat yourself, others and your environment with care by learning ways to manage stress, nurture friendships, and preserve and protect natural resources. Our children will discuss mentoring, service to others and how communities develop and thrive. As staff, we hope to re-evaluate our practices and work toward creating a balance personally and professionally.
Wishing everyone a wonderful year!
