Congratulations to Walter P. (Seminar class of 2009) who was recently selected as the Agriscience Student of the Year for the state of North Carolina. Walter is a high school junior in Pembroke, North Carolina. Last year he placed first in the North Carolina Agriscience Fair and eighth in the national competition in Indianapolis. He will be taking all college level classes during his senior year and plans to pursue a degree in Plant and Crop Science. According to his mother Kathy, Walter’s experiences on Community School’s exchange program in Bolivia led to his passion for agriscience research and finding solutions to address issues of world hunger and starvation.
