New Face Mask Policy Makes Masking Optional

community school faviconDear Community School Families,

We have been carefully watching the risk level metrics for our region, as well as considering our school level of transmission over the last month. Due to the continuing decline in cases and hospitalizations, the COVID Working Group recommended, and the Board of Trustees approved optional mask wearing both outside and inside. This will go into effect at the start of the school day on March 28 for all students and staff on campus.  We appreciate all you have done to support our health and safety protocols over the last two years and hope that we will not have to return to mandatory masking. Under these revised protocols, we respect everyone’s choice on whether they want to wear masks at school.

Please continue to contact the school if your child has had an exposure or tests positive for COVID.  Masking after an isolation or quarantine will follow the guidelines supported by the VDH and CDC. We ask families to monitor their children’s symptoms and keep them home if they are not feeling well. We will continue to encourage eligible staff, students, and their families to take advantage of available vaccines or boosters, to practice proper handwashing and cough/sneeze etiquette, to routinely sanitize all common surfaces in the classrooms, and provide adequate ventilation inside our buildings.
Sincerely,

Linda Roth
